Guest Groups: Cook Up a Contemporary Toilet

Guest Groups: Cook Up a Contemporary Toilet

I am working on the complete renovation of a home built in 1895, also I am in the process of earning design decisions for significant rooms such as the kitchen and bath. My purpose is to create a space that is a nod to both the original Queen Anne design and age of the home, but also includes some contemporary touches. This collection includes the important elements of my version of a contemporary Victorian kitchen. — Sarah from The Estate of Things

Heydt Designs

This kitchen uses a combination of modern/industrial and traditional components to create a beautiful area in an older home.

Ballard Designs

Eddie 1-Light Pendant – $159

These are primitive in an industrial, turn-of-the-century type of manner. I enjoy the reflective quality, the simplicity and the cost. I’d love to mount some of these over an island one over the kitchen sink.

Benjamin Moore

Cape May Cobblestone Paint

Because I wish to create an original twist on Victorian, I am planning to paint the lower cabinets and the island a medium grey. Benjamin Moore’s Cape May Cobblestone matches that description.

SomerTile Malda Subway Glossy White Ceramic Wall Tile – $75.99

I usually rely on this affordable and traditional white subway tile for a kitchen backsplash.

Purchase

Restoration Hardware

Gilmore Pull – $10

As much as I love the brass movement, I can’t get away from the clean shine of chrome and polished nickel. Bin pulls like this you’re just classic.

Hanson Knob – $9

Bin pulls are for the drawers, and also this traditional knob is for the cabinets.

Overstock.com

Fireclay Butler Big 29 1/2-Inch Kitchen Sink – $669.99

This sink is reminiscent of those old, hardworking white cast iron basins. The apron will be amazing when installed on the grey lower cabinets.

I need this now! It is such a simple and stylish way to store create on the counter.

Heritage Chrome Kitchen Faucet With Spray – $153.99

Obviously I would love to spring for a costly bridge faucet, however, I decided to go the budget-friendly route. This one has great antique styling, and it has a bunch of great reviews on Overstock.

Marion Ceramics

VeeBrick, Academy Gray

Ever since the very first time I stepped into the dressing room in an Anthropologie store, I’ve needed to utilize a thin brick in a herringbone pattern in a kitchen. I believe this is the place to do it, and it’s an enjoyable departure from tile and hardwoods.

LeMica Doors

Shaker Cabinet Doors, Antique White

There are many great cabinet styles, however, Shaker proves its versatility every time.

Ballard Designs

Rutland Barstool – $149

I wanted to walk the line on industrial- and – utilitarian-style pub stools, and that I prefer stools using a back rest. I believe this one accomplishes both contemporary and functional profiles.

Pottery Barn

Teardrop Filament Bulb – $12

Thomas Edison developed the lightbulb in the late 1800s, and this filament bulb is a salute to the genius inventor, as well as the age of the home. Additionally, they are completely on trend right now.

TorontoGranite.com

Bianco Quartzite Slab

I want the grey veining of a marble but the durability of granite, and I will detect both in quartzite. This really is a splurge for certain, but it’s remarkably amazing and impressive in person.

Roller Blinds – $46.50

I believed a customized window treatment but decided with this insulated shade. I love the colors at Country Curtains, and the fabric on this one gets the look of linen.

Sears

Kenmore Bottom Freezer Refrigerator – $1,699.99

This fridge has the slim line and the industrial look of a more expensive model.

Sears

Kenmore Guru 30-Inch Dual Fuel Range – $4,199.99

I love the vintage and business look of the stainless gas collections that are available now. Additionally, I believe most would agree that gas just cooks better.

Dash & Albert Rug Company

Beckham Stripe Light Blue Indoor/Outdoor Rug – $298

To bring a little warmth in the kitchen, throw a durable and fairly Dash & Albert classic, striped beachfront runner in front of the sink.

The Jar Store

64-Ounce Anchor Heritage Hill Jar – $7.49

I’d love to line some of these basic canister jars holding some cooking essentials and grains across the countertop.

Amazon

Live Rosemary Single Ball Topiary – $39.95

I adore a cluster of houseplants on the counter. Keep them close to the sink so they are simple to water. A rosemary topiary is a must.
