Companion Flowers for Marguerite Daisies
Marguerite daisies (Argyranthemum frutescens) are simple to develop, creating tiny white flowers with yellow centers. Other cultivars bloom in pink, yellow and gentle orange hues. Their flowers attract butterflies and make bouquets that are charming. Despite their fragile appearance, Marguerite daisies are difficult, wind- evergreens that bloom year-round in mild climates. They’re a cheerful addition to the backyard bed, particularly when planted with companion crops of heights, textures and complementary colours.
Zonal Geraniums
Zonal geraniums (Pelargonium x hortorum) create showy flowers in various colors, including pink, white, orange and lavender. Some flowers are speckled or bi-colored. Where winters are moderate, they bloom continually through the year. Like Marguerite daisies, they’re simple to develop and could be planted in the floor or developed in pots. Geraniums are popular with butterflies and achieve up to 3 feet high and 2-feet wide. No scent is emitted by the flowers, but the leaves are aromatic.
Lantana
Lantana (Lantana camara) is an evergreen in the verbena family. Its aromatic, multi-colored flowers grow in clusters combining orange, red, pink, yellow and cream, making it perfect for attracting butterflies. Several other cultivars create various different colours, including “New Gold,” which blooms in bright-yellow. The plant is simple to develop in containers or garden beds, its flowers all year round in moderate climate. Planted in a pot that is big, the lantana species is a particularly appealing complement to Marguerites.
Anemone
Anemone, also called lily-of-the-industry (anemone coronaria), grows as much as a foot and half high with purple, pink or red flowers that bloom in the spring. It grows best in loamy, well-drained soil and is ideal for containers or as part of a rock-garden or flowerbed by the ocean. Makes a perfect border, its dark- flowers offering a contrast to vibrant Marguerites. Its cut flowers make a bouquet that is fairly clean or dried arrangement.
Begonia
Begonias (Begonia x hiemalis) increase as much as a foot plus a half high. They bloom abundantly all year round in red, pink, orange and yellow clusters complemented by waxy leaves that are green. This plant likes sufficient watering and shade or partial shade. Begonias develop in containers or as inside or border companions to Marguerites, forming mounds that achieve up to one 5 toes high. They’re perennial in places with gentle winters.
