How to Change a Hanging Lampshade
A hanging lampshade or light colour can be replaced with a brand new model to give a whole new look to the light. Hanging light shades tend to have two fashions — those that need to be removed in order to change the light bulb and the ones that permit entry to switching the light bulb. In either circumstance, you can quickly and easily alter a hanging lampshade in a few minutes to coordinate with your personality and room’s decor.
Removing Lightbulb-Accessible Colors
Position a stepladder beneath the light if necessary to safely get to the fixture.
Switch off the light switch and unscrew the light bulb from the fixture.
Locate the three mounting screws over the shade that protected the shade or globe into the fixture. Hold the shade with one hand and loosen all the three screws with a screwdriver or pair of pliers until the colour comes free from the fixture. Lower the colour and set it aside.
Slide the new shade up and over the light socket and into the mount. Hold the shade in place with one hand and tighten the three mounting screws by hand, then snug the screws (without over-tightening) to the base of the shade with a pliers or screwdriver.
Replace the lightbulb and analyze the fixture at the switch.
Altering Colors Where Lightbulbs are Not Accessible
Switch off the light switch. Position a stepladder beneath the light if necessary to safely get to the fixture.
Hold the colour in place with one hand and loosen the decorative nut on the base of the shade with the other hand. If the nut does not turn, use a pair of pliers or a screwdriver to loosen the nut. Pull down the shade.
Replace any lightbulbs as required.
Set the new shade beneath the lights, and slide the shade’s mounting hole over the threaded nipple of the fixture. Hold the colour in place and tighten the decorative nut by hand. Gently tighten the nut with a pliers or screwdriver if necessary to guarantee the shade to the fixture.
Turn the light switch to check the light.
