Visit a Condo Co-designed by Nature

When homeowners approached Miami-based designer Deborah Wecselman to redesign their family’s condominium, they asked a look that emanates from the frequently bold, lively hues found in Miami décor. Instead they opted for something equally soothing and trendy that also highlighted the breathtaking views. Wecselman fulfilled their request by translating inspiring elements from Mother Nature into indoor living spaces.

The living area, one of the more casual spaces at the house, summons relaxation courtesy of a cabana-striped daybed, seagrass rug, woven furnishings and outdoor fabrics.

“The secret to not going’overboard’ in coastal decor,” Wecselman describes,”would be to use lightweight materials such as linen and use natural materials such as raffia and other substances with a woven appearance and feel.”

A clean colour palette, graphic patterns, and streamlined furnishings keep this space with a perspective feeling fresh and classic. A classic chair was revived with a lacquered coat of high-gloss white paint and reupholstered to highlight the room’s modern aesthetic.

Serene and sophisticated, the entryway’s tranquil blue hue welcomes guests into a feeling of relaxation. The palm leaves triptych art gives clues of this homeowner’s love of organic elements.

The living area provides a wealth of seating options for entertaining or simply communing with the family. Furnishings and accessories replicate the tribute to nature seen in the remainder of the home.

The master bedroom is a balance of masculine and feminine components. Drapery panels soften the lines of this canopy bed while Barbara Barry’s Dressmaker’s Lamp in bronze provides an hourglass contour to the nightstand.

As an alternative to traditional dining chairs, Wecselman inserted a set of upholstered seats below a custom walnut dining table for added flair. The reflective stainless-steel foundation counters the heaviness of this timber and takes advantage of the ample sunlight from surrounding windows and the ground mirror.

A custom-paneled door ushers you to a spa-like powder tub full with honed travertine mosaics, stone basin and candlelit sconces.
